A historic and pioneering K-8 presence among Norfolk, Virginia families for almost 100 years, Williams (www.TheWilliamsSchool.org) competes among some of the best private schools in Virginia, and some of the oldest private schools anywhere in the United States. Always innovating, Williams leadership wanted to more clearly communicate the progressive teaching and learning happening across its dynamic learning spaces while staying true to its mission. Moreover, it sought to elementally change a misperception that Williams was just a school for Norfolk families.

Strategy

In 12 weeks, Ovus & Ater designed an innovative Brand Strategy that leveraged a new six-word tagline to simultaneously introduce a new category into the Hampton Roads region’s competitive educational landscape – Lab School – while loudly declaring itself a choice for families across the region. This tagline is “The Lab School of Hampton Roads.”
